Fresh Start for 2005

While nothing really changes when the calendar turns from December to January, it certainly feels like a new beginning for many of us. The start of a new year can be an opportunity to make a fresh start in an area you want to change or dramatically improve.

There are many ways to approach this process of improvement. I recommend viewing 2005 as though it will be your last year on this planet. Imagine that you still have to work, fulfill the same responsibilities, and be involved with the same people. You can't wave a magic wand and alter your circumstances. But you can change and control your actions and behaviors throughout the year.

Ask yourself these questions:

(1) If you knew you had only 12 months left, would you do something different?

(2) Would you change jobs, re-evaluate the type of people you associate with, think differently about how you are acting and showing up in life?

(3) Would you live in such a way that you are realizing your potential moment-by-moment?

(4) How would you do that?

Write down your answers and use them to create a list of goals. Then develop an action plan that will help you reach your goals by the end of the year.

Viewing 2005 as the last year of your life can launch a process of deep reflection and evaluation that leads you to a richer, more fulfilling existence.

When you realize your time on this planet is finite, the desire to make changes becomes not a possibility, but a necessity.

I wish you a wonderful New Year filled with positive changes and the fulfillment of your dreams and your potential.
