Fulfillment@Work: DO IT NOW...TAKE THE LEAP

Message from Joel

The last newsletter titled, The Courage To Change Your Profession, really spoke to many of my subscribers. I received many responses from people around the world. They spoke about how difficult it is to have the courage to make a change.

I felt a response to all subscribes regarding the last newsletter was necessary so I wrote a new article that I included in this issue. It's called "Do It Now...Take The Leap"

This is the time, right now, to make a change. If you are being called to make a change, you only action is to go for it. Nothing should stand in your way from honoring this call!

Do It Now...Take the Leap

A subscriber emailed me in response to the last newsletter titled "Courage To Change Your Profession." This week, I'll share my reply.

Subscriber writes:

"I am looking at doing something I am passionate about, but I need the courage of my convictions, and I am afraid to make the break in case I am not successful - I can't afford to lose my steady income. Much as I love where I am, working the job is pulling me down - it is very stressful."

My response:

It is hard to make a break in case you are not successful. It's easy to stay at the safe place that you know so well. It provides you with comfort and ease. So why are you supposed to make the change from this comfortable place? This is what you are being called to do. You can't deny this call. It is yearning to be fulfilled.

Your role in this transition is to have the courage to make the leap and to take the risk, even when fear is within you. Remember, as you are making a change you are creating an opportunity to reach your potential. To fulfill your destiny and honor what you are being called to.

Rumi said, " don't be timid. Load the ship and set out. No one knows for certain whether the vessel will sink or reach the harbor. Just don't be one of those merchants who won't risk the ocean!"

The key point here is that you'll never know what will happen until you do it. Once you go for it, you will be on the path toward fulfilling your potential.

The greatest benefit for taking the leap is that you will be provided with the necessary courage needed to make the dream or idea a reality.

So many of my clients go through what this person is going through. When they are working with me, I help them move from a place of doubt, struggle, and confusion into a place of clarity, conviction and confidence.

Once the leap has been taken, conviction, confidence, and courage become the foundation for your success. You won't know this until you have faith and take the leap.

Here is a definition of faith that I heard a few years ago:

When you have come
To the edge
Of all the light you know,
And are about to
Step off into the darkness
Of the unknown.

Is knowing
One of two things
Will happen:

There will be
Something solid
To stand on
You will be taught
How to fly

I say go for it now...take the leap!

If it gets too scary, call me.

As long as you stay at the job that is pulling you down, you lose confidence and courage. You'll have to just make a break and go for it. I would set a date that you will do it (maybe 1 week from now, maybe 3 weeks) and if you don't do it by then, email me and we can do some coaching sessions.

We each have a limited amount of time to make our mark on the world. The only way to find satisfaction is to live your life in a way that uniquely responds to your dreams.

"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do then by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover." Mark Twain
